Biography
Passionate about connecting with audiences and students through music, Lexine Feng is a Taiwanese-American cellist and teaching artist based in Atlanta, GA. A top prizewinner in solo and chamber competitions, she has performed as a soloist with ensembles including the Georgia Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and DeKalb Symphony Orchestra and has enjoyed concert appearances across the United States in venues such as New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Spivey Hall, Atlanta Symphony Hall, The Appel Room at Lincoln Center, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. An avid chamber musician, Lexine has shared the stage with renowned artists including the Borromeo String Quartet, Philip Setzer, Paul Watkins, and Hsin-Yun Huang. She has been featured as a collaborative performer at New England Conservatory’s First Monday Series, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival.
As a devoted teaching artist, Lexine maintains an active private cello studio and instructs students of all ages and backgrounds. Her love for pedagogy has brought her to teach in a variety of settings: leading early childhood music classes for infants and toddlers as well as coaching chamber music ensembles at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School, working with K-6th cello students at the Conservatory Lab Charter School and Boston Music Project as a Teaching Fellow, and lecturing and tutoring undergraduate students in music theory and aural skills as a Teaching Assistant in New England Conservatory’s Music Theory Department.
A community-minded performer, Lexine is enthusiastic about making classical music more accessible and known to all by performing in non-traditional spaces and engaging with audiences who may be unfamiliar with the genre. She is often organizing and performing in outreach concerts at hospitals, food banks, homeless shelters, libraries, museums, and other community hubs in major cities around the country. Lexine is the founder of Musical Conversations, an ongoing concert series designed to spark dialogue and appreciation for classical music across generations through performance and discussion. She has performed and facilitated these intergenerational programs around the Boston area since 2024, partnering with senior living organizations and New England Conservatory’s Community Performances and Partnerships Program to connect older adults with middle and high school students. Lexine has been recognized for her work with Musical Conversations by New England Conservatory as a winner of the 2026 Entrepreneurial Musicianship Spark Award, and she is looking forward to establishing Musical Conversations in her hometown of Atlanta and reaching new audiences.
Lexine completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in cello performance at the New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Laurence Lesser and Yeesun Kim, receiving her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees with academic honors and a concentration in Teaching Artistry and Music Education.
