Teaching Philosophy

As a teaching artist, I am committed to helping my students cultivate a lifelong love for music and sharing it with others. By providing a nurturing and versatile approach, I encourage my students to explore their creativity as they develop and find their unique musical voice. I believe in guiding each student to discover their own motivation and enthusiasm for learning and playing cello, allowing them to enjoy the continual journey of exploration, experimentation, and expression and most importantly, to have fun making music at all times!

Through instructing students in a variety of settings, I understand the diverse musical or non-musical backgrounds that students may come from, and I strive to observe each student’s particular style(s) of learning and communicating. I work with my students to set personal goals regularly, and I develop individualized lesson plans to assist them in reaching these goals, whether they aim to share their music with friends or family, learn specific repertoire, or prepare for a competition, audition, or performance. My desire is to create a space where my students are supported and challenged to strive for musical excellence and joyful expression. I am a firm believer that music has the power to connect and uplift people, and I aspire to help my students grow through their musical journeys to become humans of integrity, compassion, and creativity.
